![]() ![]() The staff were professional, attentive, and paid attention to details. I wish I asked for his name so I could call him out here.Ī lovely place to have dinner, and watch a fire show. Instead, we felt judged and the experience almost ruined our whole Quebec trip. We paid that much, we expect a decent service. Despite the good food and the amazing service from the other staff, we did not enjoy our dinner because of our server and we would probably not come back. We also declined appetizers and again, he rudely took our appie forks without asking. We declined to get drinks because we just had lemonades before getting to the restaurant and our server rudely put away our wine glasses, without even asking. Not sure if he was being ignorantly racist. One of the first thing he said to us was, "English?" And when we said yes, he said "ok good". My family also ordered the Sea and the fried cod. I especially liked the calamari steak, it was tender and delicious. The fried calamari was basic but everything else in the plate tasted good. The only disappointment in our Quebec City dining experience.įirst of all, food was great. More importantly management should oversee the service if it’s important to them for customer satisfaction. I think the servers need to be educated and understand the menu because service is important. Restaurants should not advertise what they do not offer. The fruits offered were some bruised Macintosh apples and cantaloupe that looked like they were cut with a serrated knife. We were NOT offered yoghurt or granola, potatoes, bread or jams or coffee. In addition you can choose one of 6 dish selections. Their menu is described as follows… at the door, on their website and the menu handed to you.Īll brunch plates are served with: yogurt and homemade granola, mimosa alarm clock, organic rattes potatoes, organic fruits of Quebec, organic breads with cream of wheat, homemade jam, filter coffee or green tea. ![]() As a foodie this was Disappointing mostly because of service. We planned a big food tour of all the restaurants based on reviews and menus all week. Buvette was amazing, our first dinner in QC city and we were amazed by the offerings. There was a lot of crunch in every bite, it is a nut heavy dish but I would still ask for seconds if I could. I can't recall our last dish, I believe it was some kind of spinach pasta with almonds/hazelnuts, out of what we got it wasn't our favourite but it was still tasty and very different from what we have eaten. (Potatoes are always underrated) This dish was by far one of the best potato dishes I have had. I don't recall the French translation but it was like mini croquettes with caviar and fennel with a crab bisque, my goodness it was so divine. My wife loved the guinea fowl pate (parfait), she said it was probably the best pate she has ever had, spread with the toast it was amazing. Duck ham (canard jambon) was delicious and the mustard pairing was excellent. The food selection is quality, oysters at a very good price, a variety of excellent food. The bar is nice, you get to see a glimpse of the magic in the kitchen. We literally translated everything while we waited for the bar. The staff are kind, very knowledgeable and very descriptive. The interior is simple with almost an upscale feel (not an interior designer). A small establishment hidden away on the side of a building, can be easily missed. It's been open only 4 years, and I can only imagine it getting better. This place is definitely one of the best fine-dining spots in old Quebec city. It's a nice change of pace and an interesting take on Boreal style cuisine. The quality of the dishes and the creative use of local seasonal ingredients allow healthier options. It's definitely the attention to details that makes this place great. They even make their own sodas in house for their mixed drinks. The chef is a wizard in this establishment. The tasting menu comes in vegan, vegetarian and omnivore options. The contrast in some the dishes makes for a fun party in the mouth, while others are simply rich and earthy. ![]() The 5 course dinner takes you on a journey with gradual escalation of intensity, flavours and unique use of ingredients. The autumn discovery tasting menu is absolutely artistic. Great location, great menu, great use of local and seasonal ingredients, and friendly staff. I would give this place a 6/5 stars if I could. ![]()
